I wanted to wish all a Happy Mother's Day. Again I am realizing how often Logan's blog is not updated.
Logan is doing well. He is coming into the age where he is learning about social and emotional adjustments. I think as much of that is timing and age of awareness. Things have been a little troubled for Logan these past few weeks learning to deal with emotions that he is not used to. Loss of friends, conflict and things of that nature. I continue to pray for Logan as he tries to learn these life lessons. I am just now starting to realize that we don't get to shelter our children, even our precious hemi kids, from the world and the things that we will all face. This is a learning curve for me too certainly.
Logan is doing well with his therapy and developmental planning. Things are better this year at this time than they were last year, for sure. Thank God.
Being a Mom is such a Blessing. Logan has been the light in my life for almost 5 years now. I never knew how one special child could inspire me to want to be my best every day for him. I Pray that God will provide me Grace and Wisdom every day be the best Mom I can be for Logan. That is my Mother's Day wish.
God Bless,

Accordions and Drums
It has been quite some time since I have posted. Not sure if anyone would even check anymore as it has been so long. Logan is doing great.
He woke up one Sunday morning and told me something very interesting. He said "Momma, I need an accordion." I of course thought about all the therapeutic value that an accordion would have reciprocal motion of both arms from the shoulder down and he is actually interested. We just got his new pint sized accordion on Tuesday (yesterday). It surely isn't quite like he had imagined... but he is still interested. He told me that it was hard... which it is.
Logan has a true love for music. It seems to be growing into something that he might want to explore. I will have some pictures soon for Logan. He just got a big surprise this week that has not been unveiled yet, as I am waiting for the weekend.
I would like to mention also The Hemispherectomy Foundation . They have been such a light in the darkness at times. Letters, cards and goodies for Logan. What a great job they all have done and Jessie Hall as well. They have all Blessed so many families by their willingness and drive.

The Results are In......
I received an email from Dr. Chugani's nurse letting us know that Logan's MRI results look good. There is part of the MRI reading that we are still waiting on - which will look specifically at reorganization after the hemispherectomy. This is a little more detailed and we are anxious to confirm what we already know.
We are all completely relieved and happy with the results. This does not come as a complete shock by any stretch as Logan has been doing very well. Every time we see someone that has not seen him in several months they are amazed at his ability to communicate now.
We feel very Blessed. On another positive note I recently completed by Bachelor's Degree (the day we left for Detroit actually). I am currently interviewing for Graduate Programs. February has been a great month. I am glad that all of the friends that we have made along the way are doing well post surgery also. Blessed we are!

Back in Texas
We made it safe back to Texas late Saturday evening. Unfortunately, I came back with a stomach virus that kept me down for a couple of days. Logan is glad to be home. He has made it known that he has no use for seeing doctors at the current time. He felt so inclined to tell a couple of doctors that as well. We are still awaiting the results of Logan's MRI scan. I am excited because I know that it will be more good news. God has been so good to us it is amazing.
We were able to visit with some of the people that we met during out stay for Logan's surgery. In particular Irma at the Ronald Mc Donald House and Laurie a PT as Children's. We wanted to thank both of them for their love and support.
I will post when I have more details regarding Logan's MRI results. Thanks for reading.

Phenominal News
Logan met with Dr. Rothermell, Neuropsychologist and Dr. Chugani, Chief of Neurology today. Both had good reports of what they saw with Logan. Dr. Rothermell performed three cognitive tests with Logan and they scored well comparatively to Logan's past scores. He was impressed with Logan's progress however did note a couple of things that we need to focus on. We next had our appointment with Dr. Chugani, when we showed up his wonderful nurse Ruth Roeder told me, we already got an email from Dr. Rothermell and he told us how wonderful Logan is doing. She said being the pragmatic man that he is, that means that he was blown away by Logan's progress. Dr. Chugani had some suggestions as well for what Logan could benefit from, but overall is in complete awe of his progress. Ruth made it very clear that comparatively Logan is doing much better than expected in many areas, especially his ability to "get around."
This was a successful day and a great piece of mind to know that I am not just blind by love for Logan, that he really is..... doing so well. Thank God!

Snow Time!

We made it to Detroit safe and sound. Looks like the winter up here is something that Logan will remember for a long time to come. He really does love the snow and does not mind that cold at all.
Nothing to report at this time. The doctors visits and tests begin tomorrow. We are certainly expecting this to be a good visit, with nothing but great news.

Time Flies and so do we..... back to Detroit
It is difficult to believe that it has already been over a month since I last posted. I am forced to ask myself where the time went. Good things have been happening. Logan still has many appointments that keep us very busy. The hard work that he is willing to do is paying off.
We leave on Monday 2/2/ for Detroit, for hopefully one last trip unless we should decide to vacation. Logan will have a visit with Dr. Chugani his neurologist and a few follow up tests. Every indication would be that Logan is having no complication from the surgery or unexpected affect. I Pray that what my eyes don't see is the same things that my eyes do see, God's healing in Logan and the continued hope for a triumphant life. We are scheduled to return on Sat. 2/7.
I will keep the blog updated often while we are gone. I think that I have said before that I will keep it updated more often when we are in Texas also. It just does not seem to happen.
Thanks for reading. God Speed. We will be posting soon with progress and positive news.
God Bless,
Mary & Logan
